Our Curriculum at Robin Hood
Curriculum and Learning
Our children, and their lives and interests, are at the heart of all our curriculum topics; we aim to show them that through learning, what they can achieve is endless. Our leaders are working hard to drive subjects forwards, ensuring that we have quality first teaching, which is accessible to all our children. It is imperative that through all learning, we give our children the tools, knowledge and understanding in order to achieve their potential.
Our curriculum is accessible for all learners, providing scaffold where needed, and making sure our children's substantive and disciplinary knowledge is challenged through tasks designed to broaden their understanding. As our curriculum is being developed, we are moving to follow the National Curriculum; ensuring we have a board and balanced curriculum, with subjects and topics relevant to the children we teach. Beginning in EYFS, knowledge and understanding is built upon as they move through their school journey, teachers carefully chose tasks with specific wording, to encourage children to apply knowledge already learned to new challenges, often cross curricular.
Our subject leaders are the heart and face of their subject, driving forwards change and improvement, as well as ensuring that teaching and learning is excellent. Through standalone days in school, children can explore areas of subjects they would not normally cover, within their year group.
Through Culture Capital, we support learning with opportunities for visits, visitors and trips, which support all children's learning. At the start of each topic, the children use their topic sheet as a reference to see which lessons are being taught, objectives, skills used and key vocab needed for the unit.
Through all of this, our children are encouraged to question and be inquisitive learners.
