We Like
Animoto
In Animoto you can add photogrpahs, or pictures saved from the Internet. You can also add sound files. Our Year 5 and 6 children made their own sound files... Mash Ups of music by artists from the US and extracts from famous speeches and quotes by famous Americans. They added their sound files to photographs that they had sourced from the Internet for an 'Images of Americana' project.
Prezi
Prezi is a free online presentation tool that allows you to create presentations that just give something a little different to Powerpoint and traditional presentation tools. Our children are experimenting with Prezi as one of their presentation media.
Storybird
We really like Storybird. This is another free online tool that allows users to produce high quality electronic books. Log in and join in.
Cue Prompter
Our pupils found this free online application when they were preparing for a news broadcast. It allows you to paste in a script... and then read it on screen like a real newsreader would. An integrated camera above the computer screen gives that real authentic 'look'.
Yorkshire File Archive

The Yorkshire Film Archive contains some wonderful examples of amateur film through the ages from around Yorkshire. We find the archive to be a very useful resource for a range of topic areas.
BBC Bang
This is a great site with lots of cool and fun Science.
BBC Learning Zone Broadband

Butterflies
Education Leeds is developing a web portal containing 'butterflies' - one minute video ideas of technologies in practice in schools. There are some great ideas and examples here. This is an ever-expanding archive... worth coming back to again and again for new inspirations. Website: http://www.evolveleeds.org.uk
Using Nintendo DS in the classroom

We are using the skills and knowledge that children build in their lives outside of school to transform the learning environment and to build on their skills. A recent Consolarium study in Scotland noted that children's ability to calculate accurately rocketed, as did their speed of processing, after using DS programs regularly over the course of 8 - 10 weeks.
Programs
We are using:
- Maths Play
- More Brain Training
- Maths Training, The Hundred Cell Calculation Method Make 10 in Numeracy from Year 1 to Year 6.
- Spellbound (to support the recognition and accuracy of spellings) and are experimenting with a range of games that can be used as a source of reading material for disengaged readers in Literacy
- Built in features such as Pictochat are very useful for teacher/pupil interaction. We are experimenting with this feature to support our Phonics work in Reception and Year 1.
- Pedagogy, organisation and Economies of scale
We are using DS's in a whole range of flexible arrangements, depending on the activity and the needs of the pupils.
One very successful method is to use one DS in conjunction with a visualiser. In this way, all pupils can engage with the interactivity of the device, yet only one DS is needed.
Josh discussing the use of Nintendo DS in support of Numeracy learning and skills development.
